Centreville, New Brunswick, March 2025
Metalfab, a leading manufacturer of quality and dependable fire apparatus, is proud to announce a leadership transition as longtime owner and President Gordon Green steps back from his role after decades of dedicated service. TJ Harvey, the company’s new President, is a seasoned leader with incredible experience in business management. He is committed to preserving the Metalfab legacy that the community knows.
A Legacy Of Excellence
Metalfab, founded in 1967 by Gordon Green’s father, has been an integral part of the Centerville community for nearly 60 years. Gordon joined Metalfab in 1980 and played a vital role in its expansion, particularly in establishing the fire truck manufacturing division. It didn’t take long for Metalfab to earn a reputation for excellence, delivering innovative, custom-built fire apparatus to towns across North America.
The decision to transition ownership was not taken lightly. For Gordon, ensuring Metalfab’s continued success and stability was a top priority.
“I wanted to make sure the company remained in good hands,” Gordon said. “But being that TJ is local, we felt that there was a little more opportunity that he might actually stay and keep running it. He reminds me a lot of myself twenty years ago.” It’s clear that a seamless transition and keeping Metalfab rooted in the community was of utmost importance for Gordon and the team.
A New Chapter With TJ Harvey As President
The search for a new owner and leader began around 2017 and 2018, with several prospective buyers expressing interest. TJ, together with his partners Miguel Gagnon and Jean-Louis Thériault, really stood out to Gordon and the Metalfab team. Their local roots, business expertise, and dedication to upholding Metalfab’s standards make them excellent candidates to lead the company forward.
“TJ has a lot of experience with this type of work,” Gordon shared. “While the sale only took place this month, he started in November and has made a significant difference in the time that he’s been here in increasing production.”
TJ has an extensive background in business ownership, operational management, and public service. With expertise in the heavy equipment and transportation industries, as well as time in federal politics, he brings a unique perspective to leadership and development. His objective for Metalfab is clear: to continue producing high-quality fire trucks while promoting sustainable growth.
What’s Next For Metalfab?
Under TJ’s leadership, Metalfab will maintain the high standards that consumers have come to expect. The priority in the next months will be to improve production efficiency, develop strategic growth prospects, and ensure a smooth transition for both team members and customers.
“Metalfab has a strong foundation, a dedicated team, and a product that communities rely on,” TJ said. “Our goal is to build on this legacy, maintain our reputation for excellence, and continue to grow in a way that stays true to our roots.”
TJ went on to say that both he and Gordon have tried really hard to make this a seamless transition and will continue to do so. “It’s important that everybody knows that nothing has really changed . . .[I]t’s business as usual, and largely, our goals are the same. They really are.”
As for Gordon, he isn’t stepping away entirely just yet. He will remain actively involved with Metalfab during the transition, ensuring continuity and providing guidance where needed.
“I’ll still be around,” Gordon assured. “I may have switched titles, but my commitment to Metalfab and its people hasn’t changed.”
With a seamless transition and a renewed commitment to innovation and growth, Metalfab is ready for an exciting new chapter that continues to honour its long history while looking ahead.
