H.E.A.T Series Pumper

H.E.A.T Series Pumper

The majority of firefighters are volunteers who rely on full-time jobs outside of the department to support themselves.

Ensuring their safety while volunteering is crucial, as they cannot afford to get injured while serving the community. Metalfab’s HEAT (Highly Ergonomic Apparatus Technology) series pumpers offer a highly ergonomic design that prioritizes the safety of your team. Investing in these specialized vehicles will be an invaluable addition to your fleet of emergency response vehicles.

The HEAT series pumpers prioritize safety while working off the truck, making the dangerous task of firefighting as safe as possible.

Similar to other pumpers, the HEAT series pumpers are typically the first units dispatched to fire incidents, providing the main water supply at the scene. They supply water to the primary hoses used for fire extinguishment and can also accommodate additional rescue tools.

Our HEAT series pumpers are equipped with minimum 625 IGPM/800 USGPM pumps, ensuring reliable water pumping capabilities. We offer ULC/NFPA-certified warning light systems and scene lighting, typically powered by LED technology. Each unit can be customized to provide ample storage space for miscellaneous equipment.

The body of each Metalfab HEAT series pumper is constructed using heavy-duty extruded aluminum, including a 3″ x 3″ aluminum tube subframe, a minimum of four spring-loaded hold downs to minimize stress on the body, a 3/16″ aluminum plate made with 5052 marine-grade aluminum, and proprietary extrusions designed to reinforce the body. Our customization services allow you to collaborate with us to tailor each component of the unit to your specific needs.

Unique Requirements

The compact design of the HEAT series prioritizes safety and maneuverability. The separated pump panel design protects all electronic controls behind a roll-up door, shielding them from exposure to the elements and road debris, thus preventing component failure.

Options for storing suction hoses include side mount trays, hosebed-mounted storage tubes, and tubes in the rear access under the tee of the tank. Additional storage for a roof ladder, two section ladders, and an attic ladder can be added using standard side mount racks, manual drop-down side mount racks, powered side mount racks, powered over-the-top racks, rear access tubes through the body or tank, and/or rear access tubes under the tank.

A custom HEAT series pumper generally carries between 800 imperial gallons (1,000 US gallons) to 1,200 imperial gallons (1,440 US gallons) of water. Our HEAT series units come with automatic transmissions, diesel engines, side mount pump panels, top mount pump panels, or top mount enclosed pump panels (TME). You have the option to choose a commercial chassis from manufacturers such as Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, etc., or opt for a custom chassis from Spartan. Pump options include Hale or Waterous, valve options include Hale, Elkhart, or Akron, and warning light systems can be chosen from Federal, Whelen, or Code 3. You can also select between roll-up or flush mount doors, and additional options such as pump, roll, and/or hosebed walkways. Compartments are installed on the high side.

The pump panels in the HEAT series are divided into two sections, with discharges and suctions mounted on the exterior. Pump controls are located in the front compartment behind the roll-up door.

Since every fire department has different levels of manpower, equipment types, response areas, and water sources, customization is essential. With Metalfab, you have the option to tailor warning light systems, foam systems, scene lighting, pump types and sizes, storage configurations, body layouts, and more to suit the specific needs of your team. The HEAT series offers additional features like separated pump inlets, outlets, and controls for the operator’s safety, lower speedlays and crosslays for easier packing and enhanced safety, hosebed walkways to eliminate the need to walk on the hose to access the front of the vehicle body, and ladder storage tubes to keep ladders clean and protected from road dirt.

If you determine that a custom HEAT series pumper is the right choice for your department, our dedicated sales team will meet with you to discuss your requirements. They will collaborate with our engineering staff to design and deliver a unit that your department will be proud to own.
