Top Mount Enclosed (TME) pumpers
Top Mount Enclosed (TME) pumpers
Pumper trucks, also known as pumpers or fire engines, play a crucial role in the fleet of any fire department.
These vehicles are specifically designed for long hours of pumping at major fire scenes. Investing in a custom pumper that caters to the unique needs of your department and community is an invaluable asset for the entire response team. Not only does it enhance operational efficiency, but it also ensures the safety and well-being of firefighters by providing warmth and protection from the elements.
Metalfab offers a line of Top Mount Enclosed (TME) pumpers that are equipped with a custom-engineered enclosed pump panel compartment. This compartment can be configured to accommodate 0 to 4 seated firefighters for transportation to the scene. The TME Crewcab of Metalfab has undergone independent testing by CAPE to ensure compliance with NFPA 1901-16 Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus, section 14.3.2. This standard incorporates the ECE R29 and SAE J2422 Cab Roof Strength Evaluation, which are internationally recognized safety standards.
Metalfab provides extensive customization options for their TME Pumpers, allowing fire departments to tailor the units to their specific needs and requirements. These pumper trucks are typically the first units dispatched to a fire scene and serve as the primary water supply source. They supply water to the main hoses used for extinguishing the fire and can also be equipped with additional rescue tools.
Unique Requirements
The TME pumpers from Metalfab come with a minimum 625 IGPM/800 USGPM pump capacity. They feature ULC/NFPA-certified warning light systems and scene lighting, typically powered by energy-efficient LED technology. Each unit can be customized to provide ample storage space for miscellaneous equipment, ensuring convenient access to tools and gear.
The body construction of Metalfab pumpers utilizes heavy-duty extruded aluminum, ensuring durability and strength. It includes a 3″ x 3″ aluminum tube subframe, a minimum of four spring-loaded hold downs to minimize stress on the body, a 3/16″ aluminum plate made with marine-grade aluminum, and proprietary extrusions designed for enhanced body fortification. Metalfab also offers Highly Ergonomic Apparatus Technology (HEAT) for panels, further enhancing usability and ergonomics. The customization services provided by Metalfab allow fire departments to collaborate closely with their team and tailor each component of the unit to their specific needs. Storage options include side mount trays, hosebed-mounted storage tubes, and rear access tubes for suction hoses. Ladders can be stored using various mounting options such as standard side mount racks, manual drop-down side mount racks, powered side mount racks, powered over-the-top racks, and rear access tubes.
The water tank capacity of a custom pumper typically ranges between 500 imperial gallons (600 US gallons) to 1,200 imperial gallons (1,440 US gallons). Metalfab’s pumper trucks come with automatic transmissions, diesel engines, and offer multiple pump panel configurations, including side mount, top mount, and top mount enclosed (TME). Customers can choose between a commercial chassis (Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, etc.) or a custom chassis (Spartan). The units can be equipped with pumps from Hale, Waterous, or Darley, valves from Hale, Elkhart, or Akron, and warning light systems from Federal, Whelen, or Code 3. Compartments are installed on the low, mid, and high sides, providing ample storage options for equipment and gear.
Given that every fire department has unique requirements in terms of manpower, equipment, response areas, and water sources, customization is essential. With Metalfab, fire departments have the flexibility to customize warning light systems, foam systems, scene lighting, pump types and sizes, storage configurations, body layouts, and more, ensuring the pumper truck aligns perfectly with their team’s needs.
