Metalfab Welcomes A New Sales Manager For The Atlantic Provinces

Metalfab Fire Trucks is proud to announce Jamie Smith as our new Atlantic Canadian Sales Manager. Jamie brings over 23 years of dedicated experience in the sales industry, offering a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record of driving growth, which we are excited to see throughout the Atlantic provinces.

A Career Built On Experience

Jamie has known team members at Metalfab for several years. When the opportunity arose to consider a new direction in his career, he gave it careful thought and ultimately knew it would be a great fit at this stage in his life.

Throughout his career, he has focused on selling commercial trucks. He has sold Freightliner, Western Star, Sterling, and Peterbilt, and has been with Kenworth for the last 12 years. Before switching to sales, he worked in the parts sector of the commercial truck industry, collaborating with Metalfab as a chassis supplier.

“[I have] lots of experience in trucks. We’re taking it day-by-day, learning the back of the truck now,” said Jamie.

Driving Regional Growth

As the new Atlantic Canadian Sales Manager, he will oversee sales operations in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. Although based in New Brunswick, he will spend his time travelling across the four provinces.

Like anyone starting a new role, Jamie knows challenges will arise. His current focus is on quickly learning Metalfab’s processes, updating himself on the current customer lists, and familiarizing himself with the different department locations across the provinces and the fire apparatuses.

Jamie is working with colleagues to organize his upcoming visits. The first trip is scheduled for Newfoundland in September, the only Atlantic province he has not yet visited.

Building Connections

Over the years, Jamie has gained experience working with different municipalities and procurement processes, making him well-versed in the procedures. In his new role at Metalfab, he will leverage his knowledge and existing contacts. His principles of building long-term relationships with customers begin with honesty, integrity, and transparency. “Tell them the best you can with the knowledge you possess,” said Jamie.

Metalfab is a local Atlantic Canadian company, so having Jamie as an internal sales manager will continue to strengthen ties with local customers, fire departments, and municipalities. Jamie plans to further incorporate his knowledge, expertise, and customer service into Metalfab’s current operations.

“This industry is always changing, whether it be engines, emissions, equipment, supply—all those things—so you have to keep them informed and keep them in touch,” said Jamie. “I do pride myself on doing that, so bringing that to the Metalfab team should be hopefully an advantage to them and the customers.”

Jamie’s knowledge of the Atlantic region and experience with commercial trucks mean our customers will benefit from a partner who understands their unique needs. His presence ensures Metalfab remains connected to the communities we serve.
